He said he believed the family would have been killed without the army’s protection. Video reviewed by the BBC reportedly showed extensive damage inside one house before it was set ablaze. The Israeli military said rioters blocked roads, burned tyres and threw stones at security forces, leaving three police officers lightly injured and damaging a vehicle.

The case comes amid broader concern over settler violence in the West Bank. The BBC noted that the high court had criticized Israeli authorities for not doing enough to curb such attacks, while human rights groups say enforcement remains weak. Israeli police said they arrested three suspects, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the attacks on security forces and urged prosecution. The incident also fits a wider pattern of rising displacement and violence in the territory, according to UN figures cited by the BBC.
