Israeli raid in West Bank’s Qalandiya injures 51 Palestinians

Israeli forces carried out a large raid in the Qalandiya refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, north of Jerusalem, on Thursday, injuring at least 51 Palestinians, according to the Jerusalem Governorate cited by Al Jazeera. The operation also included demolishing commercial shops near the Qalandiya checkpoint, imposing a curfew on nearby Kafr Aqab and closing roads connecting the area to Jerusalem.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society said 35 people were taken to hospital after severe beatings, six were treated at the scene, and another person was struck by a rubber-coated steel bullet. It also said some patients, including people needing kidney dialysis, were evacuated only after ambulance access was blocked for hours. Al Jazeera reported that soldiers fired stun grenades at journalists at the camp entrance and ordered them to leave.

Local Palestinian media said dozens of Palestinians, including women and children, were detained for field questioning inside homes used as temporary holding sites. Al Jazeera also reported a separate Israeli raid in Jenin the same day, where one Palestinian was shot and another was assaulted.

The raid comes amid a broader rise in Israeli military operations and settler attacks across the West Bank, alongside demolitions and land seizures. Rights groups and a UN-appointed commission have warned that such violence has intensified in recent months, while some Western governments have sanctioned settler figures and Israeli officials over their role in the unrest.
