Israeli forces storm multiple West Bank towns, settler violence worsens

Al Jazeera reported that Israeli forces expanded operations across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem on Monday, raiding at least 20 towns and villages, demolishing homes and detaining dozens of Palestinians. The outlet said soldiers entered areas including Beita near Nablus, Nilin west of Ramallah, Arrabeh in Jenin with military bulldozers, and Deir al-Ghusun north of Tulkarem, where five Palestinians were detained.

Further raids and arrests were reported in and around Nablus, Qalqilya, Tulkarem, Hebron and other communities, including Balata camp, Asira al-Shamaliya, Arroub camp and Beit Ummar. Citing Quds News, Al Jazeera said soldiers stopped an ambulance carrying a pregnant woman from Qaryut to a hospital in Nablus, and that her condition later worsened, resulting in a miscarriage.

The report also described a rise in settler violence. Palestinians in the Abu Fuzaa encampment near Taybeh, east of Ramallah, were attacked, while settlers in Al-Burj, south of Hebron, allegedly released cattle into olive groves, damaging farmland. Al Jazeera’s correspondent said Palestinians describe being left without protection as settler attacks continue, often alongside Israeli military activity.

The developments drew condemnation from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, several Arab governments, the Arab League, Spain and UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese. Al Jazeera also cited Haaretz reporting that Israeli military officials view the West Bank as highly volatile. The latest raids matter because they come amid growing international concern over Israeli settlement expansion, attacks on Palestinian communities and a widening cycle of violence in the occupied territory.
