Israeli forces kill Palestinian man and withhold his body near Nablus

Israeli forces shot and killed a 29-year-old Palestinian man, Abdul Karim Muhammad Salem Khader, in the town of Aqraba, south of Nablus, during a wider set of raids and arrests in the occupied West Bank, according to Al Jazeera’s reporting on Wafa and local sources. His body was reportedly withheld after the killing. The incident took place on Tuesday, as Israeli forces surrounded his home, fired an Energa antitank rifle grenade at it and later used a bulldozer to demolish part of the building.

An Israeli army spokesperson said the military killed an armed man who tried to attack soldiers. Al Jazeera reported that the army also carried out broad raids in several locations, including Anata and the Shu’fat refugee camp in occupied East Jerusalem, as well as Dura near Hebron in the southern West Bank.

In Dura and Hebron, at least 10 people were arrested, including Fayez al-Jabari, his son, and two former prisoners, Ayoub al-Awawda and Montaser Shadid, Wafa said. In southern Hebron, Israeli forces also began demolishing homes in Khallit al-Dabe in Masafer Yatta, according to an Al Jazeera correspondent.

The reporting said entrances to Shu’fat and Anata were closed, while residents were barred from entering or leaving. Jerusalem’s governor, Adnan Ghaith, described the raids in Anata as part of efforts to tighten the siege on northeast Jerusalem, and said ambulances were being blocked from reaching the injured. Al Jazeera also reported that water lines were bulldozed in Anata, raising concerns about local access to water.
