Al Jazeera reports that a new legal report from Adalah, a rights group representing Arab minority rights in Israel, accuses Israeli universities of using a dual disciplinary system that disproportionately targets Palestinian students. The report says complaints and disciplinary cases surged after the war on Gaza began in October 2023, with Adalah receiving more than 130 inquiries from Palestinian students across roughly 40 institutions. It describes a pattern in which Palestinian students face an administrative process with fewer protections, while Jewish Israeli students are dealt with under a more standard legal framework.

The Technion rejected the allegations, saying they were part of an effort to discredit Israeli academia and were baseless. The report also says some universities invoked older legal doctrines to justify disciplinary action, and it calls for international human rights scrutiny and stronger protections for academic freedom and free expression in higher education.
