BBC Sport reports that Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has said he wants Alexis Mac Allister and Alisson to remain at Anfield amid speculation about both players’ futures. Speaking at a news conference in Chicago at the start of Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States, Iraola described Mac Allister as one of the club’s leading performers in recent seasons and said interest from elsewhere was expected after his strong World Cup with Argentina.

Mac Allister, 27, joined Liverpool in 2023 on a five-year deal and has two years remaining on that contract. BBC Sport says talks over an extension have not yet begun, contributing to suggestions he could move this summer. Iraola indicated his preference is to add to the squad rather than lose established players.

The BBC also reports that Alisson, 33, has one year left on his contract and has been linked with Juventus. Iraola said he is satisfied with Liverpool’s goalkeeping options and emphasized the Brazilian’s value as an experienced figure in a dressing room adjusting to new and younger players. He grouped Alisson with long-serving players such as Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez as important references for the squad.

Iraola also acknowledged Liverpool may need defensive additions during the summer window. He said the squad is light in defensive depth, especially at right-back, with Conor Bradley still “months” away from returning after a knee injury sustained in January. The situation matters because Liverpool are preparing for the new season while balancing contract uncertainty, transfer interest and injury-related gaps in key positions.
