Ipsos seeks partnership with Buganda Kingdom

Ipsos Uganda has opened discussions with Buganda Kingdom leaders about a possible partnership focused on research, monitoring and evaluation of the kingdom’s development programmes, according to Nile Post. The talks took place during a visit by Ipsos officials to the kingdom and included meetings with Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga and other ministers. The proposed collaboration would center on assessing the impact of ongoing initiatives and improving the quality of programme delivery.

Mayiga welcomed the idea, saying data-driven information is important for understanding communities and supporting development. He also pointed to Buganda Kingdom’s broader role in Uganda’s economy, including cultural promotion, economic activity and links between businesses and markets. He said the kingdom is open to working with institutions such as Ipsos to strengthen social and economic development.

Ipsos Uganda Managing Director Ruth Ruigu said the company’s long experience in Uganda positions it to support the kingdom’s efforts. She said the goal is to help improve quality and make sure development programmes achieve their intended objectives. The article also notes that Ipsos contributed Shs1 million to the kingdom through the Luwalo contribution, adding a financial gesture alongside the partnership discussions.

If pursued, the arrangement would bring a private research firm into closer engagement with a major cultural institution on programme evaluation, an approach that could help formalize how development impact is measured and communicated.
