MacRumors reports that Oklahoma could become one of the next U.S. jurisdictions to support driver’s licenses and state IDs in Apple Wallet. The site said it found references to an Oklahoma ID in Apple’s backend, a sign it interprets as preparation for future Wallet integration for iPhone and Apple Watch users. The reported Apple activity follows Oklahoma legislation passed in March 2026. According to MacRumors, the House bill, developed with input from Apple, permits Service Oklahoma to issue mobile or digital versions of state identification cards, driver’s licenses and permits. The digital credentials would not replace physical documents; residents would still need to keep their standard licenses or IDs, with the phone-based version serving as an additional option.

MacRumors says Connecticut, Kentucky, Mississippi, Utah and Virginia are also among states expected to add Apple Wallet license support, and that it previously found backend signs for Utah and Virginia. The article lists several current participants, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, Ohio, West Virginia and Puerto Rico, among others.

The expansion matters because Apple Wallet IDs are part of a broader shift toward digital identity verification. MacRumors also notes that in states without Wallet license support, iPhone users can add a U.S. passport through Apple’s iOS 26 Digital ID feature.
