9to5Mac reports that Apple’s rumored iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to keep the same display sizes as the previous Pro models, while gaining two notable screen-related upgrades. The report, published July 21, focuses on display technology and the front-facing cutout rather than a broader redesign, and frames the details as rumor-based rather than confirmed by Apple.

The first expected change is a move from LTPO display technology to a newer LTPO+ implementation. According to 9to5Mac, citing The Elec, LTPO+ expands the use of oxide materials in the OLED panel’s thin-film transistors, allowing more precise control of light emission. The anticipated benefits include better power efficiency and less visible flicker in darker environments, which could improve the consistency of ProMotion and Always-On display behavior while reducing battery impact.

The second reported upgrade is a smaller Dynamic Island cutout. 9to5Mac says the iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to reduce the cutout by about 35% compared with the iPhone 17 Pro, slightly increasing usable screen area. The article also notes that iOS 27’s updated Siri design may already hint at the revised size.

Apple introduced the Dynamic Island with the iPhone 14 Pro in 2022, combining hardware cutouts with software interactions such as Live Activities. While those software uses have grown, the physical cutout has stayed largely the same.
