iOS 27 makes your iPhone faster in 30+ ways - 9to5Mac

9to5Mac reports that Apple’s iOS 27 public beta is now available and includes a broad set of performance improvements intended to make everyday iPhone tasks feel quicker. The article, by Chance Miller and published July 19, says Apple has listed more than 30 areas where the update should reduce delays across core apps and system functions, including Photos, Safari, Camera, Mail, Music, Health, Spotlight, AirDrop and accessibility features.

According to 9to5Mac’s summary of Apple’s outlined changes, Photos should load new captures as much as 70% faster, app launches may be up to 30% quicker, and AirDrop transfers could be up to 80% faster. Other improvements cited include faster Safari start page loading and JavaScript handling, quicker Camera launch in Low Power Mode, speedier iCloud Photos uploads, faster HomeKit pairing and accessory updates, improved NFC reading reliability, quicker emoji and sticker keyboard loading, and faster Text Recognition in images and documents.

The report says Apple emphasized speed and reliability when it introduced iOS 27 last month. 9to5Mac notes that the update supports iPhones going back to the iPhone 11, and that at least one Apple performance comparison used an iPhone 11 Pro Max running iOS 26.4.2 against one running iOS 27.

The development matters because performance gains can be especially noticeable on older supported devices, potentially extending the useful feel of iPhones already several years old. 9to5Mac says iOS 27 is currently available to developers and public beta testers, with a general release expected later this fall.
