9to5Mac reports that Apple’s iOS 27, expected to arrive this fall as the next major iPhone software update, includes three changes that could become everyday tools for many users. Writing on July 29, Ryan Christoffel highlighted a rebuilt Siri, expanded proofreading, and broader search upgrades across core iPhone features.

According to the report, the most notable change is a new “Siri AI” experience. 9to5Mac says Apple has substantially reworked the assistant so it can answer a wider range of questions, carry out more actions on the iPhone, operate more consistently across Apple devices, and keep conversations in a dedicated Siri app. The article frames this as a major shift from earlier versions of Siri rather than a minor feature update.

The second feature is improved writing assistance. The report says iOS 27 extends the iPhone’s long-running spellcheck by using Apple Intelligence and adding grammar checks. Suggested corrections for correctly spelled but potentially misused words, as well as grammar issues, are described as appearing with a different visual treatment from traditional misspelling alerts. 9to5Mac notes that users who do not want the added proofreading can turn it off in Settings.

The third change is a search overhaul. 9to5Mac reports that Spotlight has been rebuilt with a more complete and frequently updated index, and that Siri is integrated into systemwide search. The same underlying search improvements are also said to apply to Photos and Mail. If broadly reliable at launch, the changes could make iOS 27 especially significant for routine tasks such as asking questions, editing messages, finding files, and searching personal content.
