Inter complete £30m deal for Liverpool's Jones

What the report says
Inter Milan have completed the signing of Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones in a deal reported by BBC Sport Football to be worth €35m (£30m). Liverpool accepted a package of €30m (£25.7m) plus €5m (£4.3m) in performance-related add-ons, and the 25-year-old has signed a contract with the Serie A club until 2031.
According to the BBC, Liverpool also secured a 10% sell-on clause. The club had earlier turned down a verbal offer from Inter in June and had valued the academy graduate, who had one year left on his contract, at around £35m. Inter had also explored a loan-plus-transfer arrangement in January, but that approach was rejected.
Jones leaves Anfield after making 228 appearances for Liverpool, having debuted under Jürgen Klopp in 2019. Last season he played 49 times in all competitions, but only started 18 Premier League matches and was not able to establish himself as a regular under Arne Slot.
The move adds to Inter’s summer recruitment from England, with BBC Sport noting that Jones becomes the third English player to join the club this window. In broader context, transfers of academy-developed players can help clubs balance squad needs and finances while giving the player a fresh start in a new league.
