What the report says

Al Jazeera, carrying a Reuters report, said India sealed their three-match Twenty20 international series against Zimbabwe with a 90-run victory in the second match at Harare Sports Club on Saturday, July 25, 2026. The win gave India an unassailable 2-0 lead, following their seven-wicket success in the opening game at the same venue.

After Zimbabwe chose to field first, India posted 219-5, built around Ishan Kishan’s 81 from 44 deliveries and Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 60 from 29 balls. Their fourth-wicket stand of 94 in 44 balls shifted the innings decisively in India’s favour, with both batters capitalising during the middle overs. Kishan was eventually out attempting a big shot to a wide ball, but the platform had already left Zimbabwe facing a demanding chase.

Zimbabwe began with some resistance through opener Brian Bennett, who made 32 from 19 balls, but the chase quickly faded after his dismissal by debutant Yash Thakur. Thakur ended with 2-30 in his first T20 international appearance, while left-arm spinner Abhishek Sharma returned India’s strongest bowling figures with 3-17. Zimbabwe were bowled out for 129 in 17.5 overs.

The result matters because it confirms India’s series win before the final match, also scheduled in Harare on Sunday. For Zimbabwe, the heavy defeat underlined the gap they faced against a high-scoring Indian side, while India gained further value from strong batting contributions and useful bowling performances from newer players in the squad.
