India vs Pakistan scheduled for October 10, 2027 at Cricket World Cup

What the report says
The International Cricket Council has released the schedule for the 2027 Cricket World Cup, confirming that India and Pakistan will meet in the group stage on October 10 in Johannesburg. Al Jazeera reported that the match is part of a tournament split across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, with 12 venues set to host the 12-team event.
Johannesburg will also stage the final on November 21, giving the city a central role in the tournament. The opening match is due to be played in Cape Town on October 7, with defending champions Australia facing India in a rematch of the 2023 World Cup final. The schedule also places semifinal matches in Cape Town and Centurion.
According to the ICC, India and Pakistan could meet again later in the Super Seven stage, and potentially once more in the final if both sides qualify. The two teams have been placed in the same group again, continuing a pattern seen in recent 50-over World Cups. Other teams in India’s group include Australia, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and a yet-to-be-confirmed qualifier.
The ICC said the top 10 teams in its rankings as of September 30 have earned automatic qualification, while the remaining places will be decided through a qualification pathway early next year. The tournament is significant not only because of cricketing stakes, but also because India-Pakistan fixtures are among the sport’s most watched and commercially important matches.
