Independent Kagimu Wins Bukomansimbi Central LC1 Seat, Unveils Executive Committee

Nile Post reported that independent candidate Bashir Kagimu has been declared the new LC1 chairperson of Bukomansimbi Central after defeating National Resistance Movement flagbearer Dirisa Ssemanda. According to the report, Kagimu won with 174 votes, prompting celebrations among supporters in the area.

After the result, Kagimu thanked residents for backing him and said he would work to unite the community, strengthen service delivery and help residents benefit from government programmes. Nile Post reported that he presented his victory as a mandate to serve all residents, while warning against leadership that deepens personal or political divisions.

Kagimu also announced members of his executive committee. The report named Magret Nakayiza, also known as Maama Mega, as village vice chairperson, Gerald Ssemwogere as treasurer and Joseph Kalya as secretary. Kagimu said the team was expected to act with honesty, transparency and accountability, and he cautioned members not to use their positions to settle disputes.

The Nile Post article said some residents welcomed the appointments and expressed hope that the new leadership would focus on livelihoods and local development. It also placed Kagimu’s win within a wider pattern in Bukomansimbi District, where independent candidates have reportedly performed strongly in the recently concluded LC1 elections, suggesting that some voters are willing to choose local leaders outside the main party structures.
