IGG reaffirms commitment to strengthening integrity clubs among Uganda’s youth

The Inspector General of Government, Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala, has restated the Inspectorate of Government’s support for Integrity Ambassadors Clubs in universities and other higher education institutions across Uganda. According to Watchdog Uganda, she made the remarks after receiving representatives of the Bishop Stuart University Integrity Ambassadors Club, who visited her office to present a report on their activities and request continued backing for anti-corruption work.

The delegation was led by the club’s outgoing vice president, Alison Twine, and incoming president, Mackson Nagaba, alongside committee members Trust Owomani and Cecilia Mwesigye. The meeting focused on how student-led clubs can help promote integrity and ethical conduct among young people, especially in settings where future leaders are being trained.

Lady Justice Naluzze said young people should be equipped with strong moral values so they can contribute to accountable and responsible leadership. She also pledged continued institutional support for the clubs as partners in the wider fight against corruption. The Inspectorate’s Director of Research, Education and Advocacy, Gwaira Gerald, praised the Bishop Stuart University club’s activity, while Assistant Director Christine Lamwaka briefed the IGG on the status of 51 Integrity Ambassadors Clubs reportedly established in higher learning institutions nationwide.

More broadly, the report reflects the Inspectorate of Government’s ongoing use of campus-based outreach to encourage civic education and anti-corruption messaging among students.
