What the report says

NRG Radio Uganda presenter Evelyn Mic has publicly pushed back against media personality Sheilah Gashumba after Sheilah suggested she could use her influence to get Evelyn fired over comments about Sheilah’s relationship. The dispute grew out of a recent interview in which Sheilah accused Evelyn of trying to damage her relationship with Alex Bidandi after Evelyn said on air that the pair had separated.

In the Sqoop Uganda report, Evelyn said she stood by her remarks and claimed she had evidence that the relationship had ended at one point, even though the couple may now be trying to reconcile. She also said she had been away for her sister’s burial when the backlash began and had not followed the online reaction closely at first. Evelyn further defended her earlier comments about Sheilah’s past relationships and said she had intended to give Sheilah a chance to respond before the matter escalated publicly.

Evelyn described her apology as a gesture toward a colleague rather than a withdrawal of her claims, and accused Sheilah of recording a private conversation without her knowledge. She said she was not worried about the threat to her job and responded with a challenge, saying she dared Sheilah to act on it.

The episode highlights the often tense overlap between Ugandan entertainment commentary, personal relationships and social media disputes, where on-air remarks can quickly become public feuds.
