Huawei Uganda Launches Campus Recruitment Drive at Kyambogo University to Supercharge Young ICT Talent and Bridge Academia-Industry Gaps

What the report says
Huawei Technologies Uganda Company Limited has announced a campus recruitment campaign for 2026, with an event scheduled for Friday, August 21, 2026, at Kyambogo University in Kampala. According to Watchdog Uganda, the session will run from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at CTF 106 and is aimed at final-year students and recent graduates seeking opportunities in the technology sector.
The company says the drive is intended to help young people move from university into work, while also supporting Uganda’s broader digital skills pipeline. The outreach is open to applicants from ICT-related and other fields, including electrical and telecommunications engineering, cybersecurity, software development, computer science, finance, logistics, industrial engineering, human resources and public administration. The campaign theme is “The Sky Is the Limit,” alongside the slogan “A Better U for a Better Uganda.”
Watchdog Uganda reported that Huawei is linking the initiative to its wider corporate social responsibility efforts in Uganda, including the Huawei ICT Academy, ICT Competitions, Seeds for the Future, the National ICT Job Fair and its campus recruitment program. The company framed these activities as part of a long-term effort to strengthen local skills, expand digital inclusion and work with universities and government institutions.
Participants are expected to meet Huawei recruiters, hear from company alumni and learn about potential full-time jobs and internships. The report said successful candidates may also receive mentorship, project exposure and access to internal training platforms. In general, campus recruitment drives like this are often used by employers to identify talent early and build links with universities, especially in fast-changing technology fields.
