BBC Sport says it is expanding its women’s football coverage for the upcoming 2026-27 season, as the new Women’s Super League campaign nears and attention also builds toward the next Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The broadcaster says it will be the free-to-air home for WSL football, with 25 live matches shown across BBC TV and iPlayer during the season.

The first live match listed is Chelsea v Aston Villa on Saturday, 5 September at 12:35 BST. BBC Sport also plans to add more post-match discussion through a new segment called The Women’s Football Fallout, which will run after every live BBC game and feature extra reaction and analysis from pundits including England internationals Fara Williams and Steph Houghton.

In addition to TV coverage, BBC Sport is launching a dedicated Women’s Football YouTube channel with extended highlights, clips, interviews and original formats. The article says the channel will also carry a new weekly show, The Debrief, while BBC Sounds’ Women’s Football Weekly podcast will move to Mondays.
