How Nacho Necha Conquered TikTok with Runyankore

What the report says
Bless Abigaba, widely known as Nacho Necha, has grown into one of Uganda’s better-known Runyankore-language TikTok creators after years of slow progress on the platform. Nile Post reports that he began posting in June 2020 and spent about four years without a major breakthrough before building an audience of roughly 880,000 followers.
The article says the turning point came on November 18, 2024, when he posted a video built around a speech by Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Mugaiga. After that clip gained traction, he continued making similar content in Runyankore, often drawing on speeches, sermons and appearances by public figures. His videos have featured President Museveni, religious leaders, MPs, musicians, and other personalities, alongside comedy and dance clips.
Nacho, who is from Masheruka in Sheema Municipality in western Uganda, describes himself as an actor, influencer and media personality. Before his online rise, he says he worked in factories while pursuing acting. His story reflects the broader growth of TikTok in Uganda, where short-form video has become a path for entertainment, promotion and digital careers.
According to the report, he now works with companies and institutions as an influencer, though he says his main challenge is securing larger brand endorsements. The piece presents his rise as an example of how local language content can build large audiences and create new media opportunities for young Ugandans.
