Housing Finance takes real estate and infrastructure dialogue to Mbarara

What the report says
Housing Finance Bank is set to help lead a regional discussion on real estate, housing and infrastructure investment in western Uganda, as industry players gather in Mbarara for the Ankole Real Estate & Infrastructure Conference. The event is scheduled for August 21, 2026, at Igongo Country Hotel and is presented as part of Knight Frank Uganda’s Real Estate Development and Investment Summit initiative, according to The Independent Uganda.
The publisher reports that the conference comes as Mbarara strengthens its position as a commercial centre for the wider Ankole region, with population growth, business activity and investment increasing demand for homes, commercial property and supporting infrastructure. Developers, financiers, urban planners, policymakers and other stakeholders are expected to discuss the financing needed to turn those opportunities into viable projects.
The article says the Mbarara engagement follows a similar conference in Gulu, where participants examined real estate potential in northern Uganda, including housing, logistics, warehousing, hospitality and student accommodation. Housing Finance Bank says the regional forums are important for connecting financiers with property developers and other industry actors.
Dorothy Namutebi, head of mortgages and consumer banking at Housing Finance Bank, said the bank wants to help individuals, families and investors participate in the growth of regional economies. The bank says its offerings include mortgages, incremental housing finance and construction financing, including its phased building product Zimba Mpola Mpola, which allows customers to construct homes in stages rather than funding a full project at once.
