Housing Finance Bank to Lead Real Estate and Infrastructure Dialogue in Mbarara

What the report says
Housing Finance Bank is set to take part in a real estate and infrastructure conference in Mbarara, where developers, investors and policymakers will discuss financing, infrastructure and property opportunities in Western Uganda. The event, the Ankole Real Estate & Infrastructure Conference, is scheduled for August 21, 2026, at Igongo Country Hotel. It is part of Knight Frank Uganda’s Real Estate Development and Investment Summit, which is designed to bring together sector players to examine investment prospects and barriers to sustainable growth.
According to Nile Post, the Mbarara meeting will build on a similar conference held in Gulu that focused on Northern Uganda’s investment potential and the financing needed to move projects forward. In Mbarara, discussions are expected to centre on the region’s rising demand for housing and commercial property, along with the need for stronger financing options, infrastructure and coordinated urban planning.
Mbarara is being positioned as an important market because of its growing population, expanding business activity and role as a commercial centre for the wider Ankole region. Housing Finance Bank says it wants to support that growth through products that fit how many Ugandans build and invest, including mortgage lending, construction finance and incremental housing solutions. One such product is Zimba Mpola Mpola, which allows customers to build in stages rather than taking on a large loan at once.
The conference is expected to examine how collaboration between financiers, planners and investors could help turn regional demand into actual development. More broadly, the dialogue reflects the growing focus on property investment outside Kampala and the role of tailored finance in supporting that expansion.
