Housing Finance Bank brings homeownership dream to life at Retrowave

What the report says
Housing Finance Bank used its role as Platinum Sponsor of the third Retrowave event at Akright City in Kampala to promote homeownership alongside the evening’s music and nostalgia, according to The Independent Uganda. The Saturday, Aug. 1 event drew hundreds of revellers from different generations and was framed by the bank as an opportunity to talk about long-term financial planning and the legacy families can build through owning a home.
The Independent reported that HFB’s acting Head of Mortgage and Consumer Banking, Hellen Musubika, said the bank wants to make homeownership feel more achievable through flexible financing. She pointed to products such as the HFB Home Loan, which can support customers who want to buy, build or improve a house, and the Zimba Mpola Mpola Incremental Housing Loan, designed for people who construct in stages as their finances allow. The bank also said it can help with renovations, extensions and acquiring land for future development.
Retrowave organiser Arthur Jagwer said the partnership added a practical message to an event best known for bringing people together through classic music. The bank’s presence at the concert highlighted how private-sector brands in Uganda are increasingly using entertainment platforms to reach consumers with financial education and housing messages. More broadly, the story reflects the continuing appeal of homeownership as a marker of stability and generational wealth in Uganda’s urban property market.
