Housing Finance Bank appoints Moses Mande Oroto to lead business banking

What the report says
Housing Finance Bank (HFB) has appointed Moses Mande Oroto as Head of Business and Institutional Banking, according to The Independent Uganda. The bank said the move is intended to strengthen its leadership and expand its work with business and institutional customers across Uganda. Oroto began the role in August 2026.
The report says Oroto joined HFB from Centenary Bank, where he most recently served as Chief Manager, Public Sector from February 2023. He spent more than 20 years at Centenary Bank in a range of positions covering corporate, institutional, SME, commercial and public sector banking. HFB said that background gives him broad experience in client relationship management, business development and strategic leadership.
In the new post, Oroto is expected to focus on customer-centred solutions, strategic partnerships and closer engagement with enterprises and institutions. The bank framed the appointment as part of its wider effort to strengthen institutional capacity and support organizations that contribute to Uganda’s economic development.
The article also notes a broader trend in banking competition, with lenders increasingly trying to provide tailored services to SMEs, corporates and institutions seeking financing and support for expansion. In that context, the appointment appears aimed at helping HFB deepen its business banking franchise and position itself as a longer-term financial partner.
