Housing Finance Bank appoints Dorothy Namutebi to lead mortgages and consumer banking

Housing Finance Bank has named Dorothy Namutebi as Head of Mortgages and Consumer Banking, according to The Independent Uganda. The appointment took effect on August 10, 2026, and places a long-serving internal manager in charge of a core part of the lender’s retail business in Kampala.
The report says Namutebi has more than 22 years of banking experience and spent 15 years at Housing Finance Bank before this promotion. Her career at the bank included roles in branch operations, branch management, workplace banking and sustainability. The article also notes that before joining Housing Finance Bank in 2011, she worked at DFCU Bank and United Bank for Africa in customer service and operations roles.
The bank’s retail and housing-focused business is important in Uganda, where demand for home loans and other consumer finance products remains significant. Housing Finance Bank said Namutebi’s background across several parts of the organization would help strengthen customer relationships and support the development of financial solutions for changing customer needs.
The Independent Uganda reported that Namutebi holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Makerere University, a postgraduate diploma in project management and is an ACCA affiliate. Her appointment reflects a broader emphasis by the bank on expanding access to mortgage and consumer banking services.
