What the report says

Housing Finance Bank has appointed Dorothy Namutebi as Head of Mortgages and Consumer Banking, with the move taking effect on August 10, 2026, according to Nile Post. The bank said her promotion reflects a long career in the institution and broader experience in Uganda’s banking sector.

Namutebi brings more than 22 years of banking experience, including 15 years at Housing Finance Bank. She joined the lender in 2011 as Branch Operations Manager, later served as Branch Manager, and then spent more than eight years in Workplace Banking. Since January 2024, she had been working in Sustainability before taking up the new role.

Her previous responsibilities included customer acquisition, relationship management, personal lending and property financing, which align closely with the mortgage and consumer banking portfolio she will now oversee. Before joining Housing Finance Bank, she worked at DFCU Bank and United Bank for Africa in customer service and operations roles. Her academic background includes a business administration degree from Makerere University, a postgraduate diploma in project management and ACCA affiliate status.

The appointment comes as Housing Finance Bank continues to emphasize housing and consumer finance services. In general, banks often use such leadership changes to strengthen customer service and product delivery, though the company’s specific strategy was not detailed beyond its focus on mortgages and consumer banking.
