Hoima Teacher Wins Omumanyi wa Salam TV Bunyoro-Tooro Finals

What the report says
Turamyomu Kautharah, a teacher at Makkah Education Center Day & Boarding Nursery and Primary School in Hoima City, has won the Bunyoro-Tooro regional finals of Salam TV’s Omumanyi wa Salam TV quiz competition. According to Nile Post, her victory qualifies her for the national grand finale set for December 19, 2026, in Kampala, where regional winners will compete for larger prizes.
The contest took place at Bwikya Hill in Hoima City and involved 30 participants. Nine advanced to the semi-finals, and five reached the final round. Kautharah finished ahead of Katuntu Swaleh, Sheikh Kugonza Ashiraf, Imam Ssessaazi Umar and Matende Rasul. Swaleh was first runner-up, while the other finalists placed third to fifth and also received awards and gifts from sponsors.
Nile Post reported that Kautharah received a fully funded Umrah pilgrimage to Makkah and Madinah courtesy of Salam TV and Tawakkal Travels, along with additional gifts from Chapa General Enterprises and Salam Charity. The event drew religious leaders, government officials, educators, students and elders from the region, and Hoima City Deputy Resident City Commissioner Amuli Kintu Kasugga attended as guest of honour.
Salam TV said the quiz is meant not only as a competition but also as a platform to promote research, community mobilization and wider social and economic development. The 2026 edition has expanded from six regions to eight, and the company says the national final in Kampala will bring together regional winners from across Uganda.
