MacRumors reports that Apple’s 20th-anniversary iPhone, informally referred to as the “iPhone 20,” is expected in fall 2027 and could bring the biggest redesign since the iPhone X. The model is described as a likely reset for Apple’s iPhone design language, similar to how the 2017 iPhone X removed the Home button and moved the line toward an edge-to-edge display. MacRumors says the anniversary device is likely to debut alongside Apple’s second-generation foldable iPhone.

According to the report, the central design idea is a mostly glass device with curved glass wrapping around all four sides. Citing Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and other rumor sources, MacRumors says Apple is exploring shallow “micro-curves” rather than dramatic waterfall-style edges, potentially to reduce distortion and improve edge gestures. One unverified mock-up suggested extremely thin bezels, but MacRumors presents that detail cautiously.

The front design remains unsettled. MacRumors says Apple reportedly wants a display with no visible cutouts, placing Face ID and the selfie camera under the screen, but display analyst Ross Young has indicated the necessary technology may not be fully ready by 2027. A smaller Dynamic Island or hole-punch could therefore remain. The reported screen sizes are around 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, with the larger version possibly marketed near 7 inches because of slimmer borders.

Other rumored changes include a thin polished frame, an uncertain material choice, and renewed work on solid-state haptic buttons under a revived “Project Bongo.” If realized, the redesign would matter because it could establish Apple’s hardware direction for multiple iPhone generations after years of broadly similar Pro-era designs.
