Hearts agree deal to sign Forest Green captain Mendy

What the report says
BBC Sport Football reports that Hearts have agreed a deal to sign Laurent Mendy, the captain of Forest Green Rovers. The 29-year-old midfielder, described by the BBC as French-born, is now set to become the Tynecastle club’s 10th signing of the summer, subject to the remaining steps in the transfer process.
According to the report, Hearts have been pursuing Mendy across the past two transfer windows and previously had a bid rejected in January. A deal has now been reached with Forest Green, while discussions over personal terms are under way. The BBC did not report a transfer fee or the length of any proposed contract.
Mendy joined Forest Green in 2025 from Macclesfield and made 47 appearances last season for the English National League side, the BBC said. His expected arrival would add another option to Hearts’ midfield as the club continues a busy summer of recruitment.
The timing is significant because Hearts are preparing for the first leg of their Champions League second-round qualifier against Sturm Graz on Tuesday at 19:30 BST. The report does not say whether Mendy would be registered or available for that tie, but the move underlines Hearts’ effort to strengthen the squad before European and domestic commitments intensify.
