Guimaraes future decided before I arrived - Jaissle

What the report says
Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle says the club had already settled Bruno Guimaraes’ future before he held his first proper conversation with the midfielder. Speaking after his appointment, Jaissle said he had only briefly met Guimaraes at the training camp in Spain, while the player was preparing to leave Newcastle. BBC Sport reports that Arsenal are close to finalising a £75m deal for the Brazil international after progress in talks.
Guimaraes, 28, was given an emotional send-off by team-mates and staff as he moves toward what would be another major departure for Newcastle. According to the BBC report, he is set to become the fourth key player to leave the club in less than a year, following other high-profile exits during the same broader period. Jaissle said the situation was difficult, but stressed that Newcastle must now focus on the squad that remains.
The new head coach framed the upheaval as part of a wider rebuild. He said the club is in a period of transition and should treat the changes as a chance to begin a new cycle with younger, hungry players. BBC Sport also notes that Newcastle have already spent about £146m on new arrivals this summer, including several players with no Premier League experience, as they reshape the squad ahead of the new season.
Newcastle begin their campaign against Liverpool at St James’ Park on 23 August.
