Grealish back for Man City - but for how long?

Jack Grealish is back in Manchester City’s senior squad after recovering from an Achilles injury, but his long-term future at the club remains uncertain, BBC Sport reports. The winger, 30, is in the final year of his reported £300,000-a-week contract and had spent last season on loan at Everton after falling out of favour under Pep Guardiola.

According to the BBC, Grealish has made two substitute appearances this season, coming on in the Community Shield defeat by Arsenal and again in City’s Premier League win over Bournemouth. He also spent part of pre-season training with the squad before an injury setback briefly interrupted his return. The report says he has impressed enough in training to earn a place back in the group under Guardiola’s successor, Enzo Maresca.

However, City sources have not committed to keeping him beyond the transfer deadline, with options including staying, another loan move or a permanent transfer still said to be open. Maresca said after the Bournemouth match that he is responsible for coaching Grealish and that the club will “see what happens” in the final week of the window.

Everton, where Grealish contributed two goals and six assists in 20 appearances before his injury last season, remain interested. Everton chief executive Angus Kinnear told BBC Radio Merseyside that the club has stayed in contact with the player, while stressing that he is still a Manchester City player.
