What the report says

Ugandan singer Grace Nakimera has revisited the controversy around a concert she staged on the same day as Goodlyf, saying the scheduling led to significant pressure from people she described as influential. In an interview on KFM’s D Hook, as reported by Sqoop Uganda, Nakimera said multiple figures approached her with requests to cancel or move the event.

According to her account, meetings were held at Sheraton Kampala Hotel and events promoter Balaam was among those who allegedly contacted her, along with other prominent people. Nakimera said one person later presented himself as a potential buyer of the concert, asked for details about production and logistics, and initially offered support. She said that arrangement changed as the date approached, and the person eventually insulted her, which pushed her to keep the show on its original date.

Nakimera told the outlet she later believed the person may have been sent by the opposing side, though that claim is her own allegation rather than a confirmed fact in the report. She said the experience strengthened her decision to go ahead, and she described the concert as successful. The episode adds context to long-running competition and tension in Uganda’s music scene, where major shows can overlap and draw attention from artists, promoters and fans alike.
