9to5Google reports that Google began rolling out Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1 to supported Pixel devices on July 20, as the Android 17 QPR1 preview cycle approaches its end. The publication describes QPR2 as the Q4 2026, or December, release and notes that it includes a minor SDK update for developers.

According to the report, the beta fixes several problems affecting system stability and device behavior. Listed fixes include a Pixel reboot issue tied to launching Gemini, Bluetooth re-pairing failures after remote bond loss, notification shade items disappearing until a restart, lock-screen media controls briefly appearing despite disabled notifications, and drag-and-drop touch handling problems. Developer-facing fixes include issues involving ML-DSA key generation, accessibility debugging data, and window-level blur rendering.

The build identified by 9to5Google is CP41.260701.005, with system images available for a broad set of devices from the Pixel 6a through the Pixel 10 series, as well as the Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold models and the Android Emulator. The report says Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users will not receive this over-the-air beta because those devices are reaching end of life, with Android 17 QPR1 described as their final beta series.

9to5Google also highlights Google’s beta-program guidance: users can enroll through the Android Beta Program for an on-device update, but those who want the stable QPR1 release should avoid installing QPR2 Beta 1. The report says opting out before installing can allow users to wait for the stable release without wiping data, while leaving after installing the beta would trigger the usual downgrade process and data wipe.
