Golf, music and business networking mark Serena’s inaugural Captain’s Putter

Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort in Kampala hosted the first Captain’s Putter Golf Tournament on September 26, according to The Independent Uganda. The event brought together golfers, business executives and entertainment guests for a day of competition, followed by an evening program focused on music, drinks and networking. The tournament was hosted by Lake Victoria Serena Golf Captain Jimmy Mugerwa, who also chairs the Uganda Breweries Limited Board and is patron of the Johnnie Walker Blue Club.

The golf competition began with a shotgun start and included multiple categories, side contests and a launch of the third hole, where a Kia Seltos was offered as a hole-in-one prize but was not won. Sahil Halai finished as overall winner with 43 points. Other category winners included Allan Atuhaire, Rhoda Kimera, Gloria Nanyonga, Dr John Byabagambi, Patrick Sumata and Henry Kibuuka, while Uganda Golf Union President Dr Jackson Were won the Best Recovery Shot award.

The evening portion was led by Johnnie Walker Blue Club and included a yacht toast, dinner, cocktails, a whisky masterclass and branded gifting. Mugerwa said the aim was to create more than a golf tournament and to build an experience that connected people. Johnnie Walker’s Christine Kyokunda said the event helped engage customers and add new members to the Blue Club. Lake Victoria Serena’s director of golf, Theo Van Rooyen, said the Captain’s Putter will become an annual fixture on the resort’s calendar.
