Sqoop Uganda reports that a new adult-focused event, Golden Era Prom 2026, is set to debut in Kampala as a nostalgia-driven celebration for people who may never have experienced a school prom. The event is presented as a gathering meant to connect three generations through music, fashion and shared memories, with the program built around old-school sounds from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s.

According to the article, the first edition will take place on the 12th of this month at Kampala Rugby Club, formerly the Legends rugby grounds. Organisers say guests will be encouraged to dress for the era they identify with, creating a mix of styles on the dance floor. The lineup is expected to include DJs and entertainers such as DJ Mary Jo, Lone Walker, Gonel and Brandon, along with generation-versus-generation DJ battles, live-band moments and surprise performances.

Director Jojo Kaggwa said the concept grew from the idea that many adults never had a chance to attend prom, and that the event is intended to become an annual fixture. DJ Ice is quoted describing the event as one where people can arrive older and leave feeling younger, reflecting the promotional theme.

The planned event also includes voting for kings and queens from different generations, with one overall king and queen to be crowned for the 2026 edition. Sqoop Uganda says organisers aim to keep the celebration running from morning into the next day, with food and drinks also part of the experience.
