What the report says

Insider Gaming reported that Ubisoft may be preparing a Ghost Recon: Wildlands Definitive Edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, potentially adding new content and technical upgrades to the 2017 tactical shooter. The outlet said the information first surfaced through an image posted on the /r/GhostReconWildlands subreddit before being shared more widely online.

According to Insider Gaming’s description of the image, the proposed edition would include a new mission along with a 4K update targeting 60 frames per second. The publisher has not formally announced a Ghost Recon Wildlands Definitive Edition, and Insider Gaming noted that, at the time of writing, Ubisoft had not confirmed the product’s development. The article was later updated to say Ubisoft has confirmed that new Ghost Recon information is coming next month, without specifying whether it relates to Wildlands.

Ghost Recon Wildlands originally launched in 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. A current-generation version would follow a broader industry pattern of publishers refreshing older titles for newer consoles through performance upgrades, bundled content or expanded editions.

Insider Gaming framed the possible release as part of a wider Ubisoft effort to revisit existing games while its pipeline of new releases has faced difficulties. The outlet also reported that Watch Dogs Legion is expected to receive similar treatment later this year, including new content and missions, while saying other Ubisoft titles are also being developed for comparable updates. Those claims remain attributed to Insider Gaming pending official confirmation.
