Ghana: 13 Dead, 5 Injured in Sege-Ada Road Crash

Thirteen people were killed and five others injured in a crash on the Sege-Ada road in Ghana, according to a report from Ghanaian Times distributed by AllAfrica. The collision involved a Ford Transit bus and a Toyota Hiace travelling along the Sege Highway toward Ada. The incident was reported as having taken place yesterday, with emergency crews responding at the scene.

The Ghana National Fire Service said 18 people were involved in the crash. Firefighters from the Sege Fire Station were sent to help with rescue work and to attend to the victims. The injured were taken to Sege Polyclinic for treatment, where they are said to be receiving care.

Assistant Divisional Officer Isaac Kojo Opoku of the GNFS Public Relations Department expressed condolences to the families of those who died and wished the injured a speedy recovery. Officials said the identities of the deceased had not yet been established and the cause of the accident remained under investigation.

Road crashes are a major safety concern in Ghana, as in many countries across West Africa, especially on busy highways where traffic includes minibuses and commercial transport vehicles.
