Gen. Moses Ali laid to Rest as Minister Babalanda Hails Fallen Statesman as Patriot and Champion of Unity

Watchdog Uganda reported that Gen. (Rtd) Hon. Moses Ali was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Abiri Chako Village, Adjumani District, in an official burial attended by senior government leaders, legislators, religious leaders and mourners from West Nile and other parts of the country. The ceremony was led in part by Minister for the Presidency Babirye Milly Babalanda, who chaired the National Organising Committee for the send-off.

According to the report, Babalanda thanked Ugandans who took part in the funeral arrangements and credited President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for granting Moses Ali an official burial and supporting the family. She also acknowledged Parliament for holding a special tribute sitting in his honour, and thanked ministers and MPs who paid tribute to his public service.

Babalanda described the retired general and statesman as a patriotic figure associated with unity, humility, peace and development. She also recognised the people of West Nile for their attachment to Moses Ali, referring to the affection shown to him in life and at his burial, and joined the Muslim community in mourning his death.

The burial drew Vice President Jessica Alupo among other officials, underlining Moses Ali’s standing in Uganda’s political and military history. The report frames his funeral as both a national farewell and a regional moment of mourning, with Babalanda urging Ugandans to honour his memory by preserving unity and serving the country with dedication.
