The Independent Uganda reports that Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali, one of Uganda’s longest-serving political and military figures, died on July 18, 2026, at Nakasero Hospital. President Yoweri Museveni announced the death and described Ali as a national figure whose public service crossed several generations. Ali, born on April 5, 1939, in what is now Adjumani District, remained active in politics into his late 80s.
