Gemini Intelligence and Gemini Nano 4 launch with Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8 - 9to5Google

9to5Google reports that Samsung’s newly announced Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 are the first phones to ship with Google’s Gemini Intelligence branding and Gemini Nano 4, Google’s latest on-device AI model. The report, citing a Google developer blog post, says the new foldables include Gemini Nano 4, which is described as supporting more than 140 languages and improving multimodal understanding. The article says the model is based on Gemma 4.

According to 9to5Google, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy and come with either 12GB or 16GB of RAM, while the Galaxy Z Flip 8 uses Samsung’s Exynos 2600 with 12GB of RAM. Google’s listed requirements for Gemini Intelligence include on-device Nano AI models, current media performance capabilities, at least 12GB of RAM, a qualified system-on-chip, and quality benchmarks that are set to be enforced more fully in 2027.

The first Gemini Intelligence capability highlighted by Google is expanded task automation across more than 40 apps, 9to5Google says. Other features previewed earlier, including Create My Widget, Gboard Rambler and Gemini-powered Autofill through Google’s personal intelligence work, are still expected to arrive later in waves.

The development matters because Google appears to be positioning Gemini Intelligence as a premium-device marker for Android hardware, not just a software feature. 9to5Google notes that Samsung’s three devices carry a “with Gemini Intelligence” badge and suggests the future Pixel 11 lineup may also use it, though how meaningful the label becomes for buyers remains uncertain.
