Gemini can now make your Google Docs look a lot less boring - Android Authority

Android Authority reports that Google is adding new Gemini tools to Google Docs that let users generate and revise visuals directly inside a document. The update, announced through a Google Workspace post, allows Gemini to create images, diagrams, and infographics based on a user’s prompt and the surrounding document content. According to the report, users can ask Gemini to produce supporting visuals for written material, such as a diagram for a proposal or an infographic based on a document’s sections, without moving the content into another design app. Gemini can also modify visuals already placed in a Doc, including changing an image’s aspect ratio or altering its style through natural-language instructions.

Android Authority says the feature can also handle multiple visuals at once, such as applying a consistent design across several images or adding an infographic to each major section of a document. The tools are accessible from the Gemini side panel and the bottom bar in Google Docs.

The rollout is limited to Google Docs on the web and is being made available gradually to eligible Google Workspace, education, and Google AI plan users. Google said the rollout began the day of the report and could take up to 15 days to reach all eligible accounts. The development matters because it brings image and layout creation closer to the writing workflow in Docs, expanding Gemini beyond text-focused assistance such as summarizing and formatting help.
