GE Vernova stock drops despite surging AI-driven orders as wind segment drags - Yahoo Finance

What the report says
Yahoo Finance reported that GE Vernova shares fell about 6% on Wednesday after the energy equipment company’s quarterly earnings came in below Wall Street expectations, even as revenue topped estimates and orders rose sharply. The move reflected investor concern that stronger demand tied to power and grid equipment was not enough to offset pressure from the company’s wind business.
According to Yahoo Finance, GE Vernova raised its 2026 revenue outlook to a range of $45.5 billion to $46.5 billion, up from its prior forecast of $44.5 billion to $45.5 billion. CEO Scott Strazik pointed to a $176 billion backlog, revenue growth, margin improvement and free cash flow as signs of building momentum. Total orders climbed 88% to $24.2 billion, led by the Power and Electrification segment.
The weaker point in the report was wind. Yahoo Finance said the unit recorded a 40% decline in new orders and faced increased costs on offshore projects, weighing on overall earnings. The company also highlighted progress in its HA gas turbine fleet, which has passed four million commercial operating hours, with 130 units commissioned across 21 countries and 195 more under contract.
The report framed GE Vernova as a major supplier to the electric power industry, with offerings spanning gas turbines, plant services and grid modernization. Yahoo Finance noted that gas turbines have benefited from demand linked to artificial intelligence infrastructure and manufacturing investment. Despite Wednesday’s decline, the article said the stock had gained more than 65% since the start of 2026 and reached a record high in April.
