Gaza ceasefire ‘exists in name only’, more than 100 NGOs say

What the report says
More than 100 humanitarian, human rights and civil society groups have said the Gaza ceasefire backed by the United States has not produced meaningful relief on the ground. In a joint statement reported by Al Jazeera, organizations including Amnesty International, the Norwegian Refugee Council, Save the Children, Oxfam and Greenpeace said Israeli forces have continued killing and injuring Palestinians, while restrictions on aid, equipment and rebuilding materials have left families unable to recover.
The groups said Israeli attacks in Gaza have killed more than 1,400 Palestinians, including at least 327 children, since the ceasefire was announced on October 10, 2025. Al Jazeera also cited Palestinian health authorities saying the wider war that began in October 2023 has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians and wounded 175,000 others. The report said Gaza’s hospitals remain overwhelmed, medicine and fuel are scarce, and many patients still need evacuation for treatment.
The statement argued that reconstruction has stalled because Israel continues to restrict the entry of needed supplies and equipment. It also said around 1.4 million people are facing crisis-level hunger or worse, and that much of Gaza’s housing and infrastructure remains damaged. Al Jazeera reported that on Friday Israeli fire and shelling continued in several parts of central and southern Gaza, underscoring the groups’ claim that the ceasefire has not stopped violence.
The organizations urged accountability and warned that, without enforcement and access for aid and rebuilding, the agreement remains largely symbolic rather than effective.
