Gateshead expect players to be paid on Tuesday

What the report says
Gateshead say they expect overdue wages for players and staff to be paid by Tuesday, as the National League club moves closer to a takeover. According to BBC Sport Football, the payments relate to September salaries that had not been settled during a difficult period for the Tyneside side.
Interim chairman Graham Wood said an agreement in principle has been reached with American investment group Flacks Group to take over the club. He explained that the parties had agreed terms for an immediate loan to cover the wage bill, followed by due diligence and an exclusivity arrangement. Wood said the funding was released on Friday, but that international banking procedures delayed the transfer because the new owners are based in the United States.
The situation adds to a troubled spell on and off the pitch. Gateshead are bottom of the National League and have taken only four points from 33 this season. They were also without a permanent manager after Lee Cattermole was dismissed earlier this month, following a run of one win and 11 defeats in 14 games. The wage issue matters because it reflects the club’s financial strain while ownership talks continue, and because prompt payment is essential for players and staff during the takeover process.
