Samsung Electronics introduced its eighth-generation foldable phone lineup at Galaxy Unpacked July 2026 in London, according to Samsung Global Newsroom. The new series includes three models: the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8. Samsung positioned the devices around upgraded foldable hardware and “agentic” Galaxy AI features intended to anticipate user needs and support multitasking, content creation and everyday information access.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the first foldable in Samsung’s Ultra tier. Samsung said it has an 8-inch main display, measures 4.1 millimetres thick when unfolded and weighs 215 grams, making it the thinnest Galaxy Z Fold model to date. The company highlighted refinements to the hinge, display tension and edge design, along with Flex Titanium technology aimed at reducing crease visibility and improving durability. AI tools demonstrated for the device include Gemini Notebook for summarising and repurposing meeting materials, and Now Nudge for suggesting multitasking actions such as opening calendar functions alongside messages.

Samsung described the Galaxy Z Fold8 as a redesigned model with new display proportions, including a 5.5-inch cover screen and a 7.6-inch main screen. The device weighs 201 grams and is said to support more than 26 hours of video playback with a 4,800mAh battery. Features shown included My FanCam, which can reframe a video around a selected person, and AI-assisted tasks such as finding hotels from a shared photo prompt.

The Galaxy Z Flip8 focuses on portability and use without unfolding. Samsung said it is 6.1 millimetres thick when open, weighs 180 grams and adds a more versatile FlexWindow for checking schedules, notifications, weather and selected apps. Camera updates include Camcorder Grip, Super Steady horizontal lock and Dual Recording for capturing both creator and subject.
