What the report says
Samsung Electronics introduced the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 at Galaxy Unpacked 2026 in London, according to Samsung Global Newsroom. The company positioned the two wearables as an expansion of its wrist-based digital health lineup, with the Ultra2 aimed at demanding sports and outdoor use and the Watch9 focused on everyday health monitoring, sleep, exercise and recovery.
Samsung said the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is the first Galaxy Watch using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite Platform. It has an 800mAh battery, described as 35% larger than earlier generations, and a display reaching up to 5,000 nits under certain conditions. The 47-millimeter watch is also said to be 12% thinner than the prior generation despite the larger battery. New functions include Trail Run, which provides elevation and ascent/descent data, hydration guidance during selected workouts, and underwater activity tracking. Samsung also cited EN13319 certification, 10ATM water resistance and an IP69K rating, while noting advanced diving features developed with Mares are planned later this year through a separate app.
The Galaxy Watch9 comes in 40- and 44-millimeter sizes and also uses the Snapdragon Wear Elite platform. Samsung said the 40-millimeter model has a 390mAh battery, 20% more than previous generations. The updated Samsung Health experience organizes information around Activity, Mindfulness, Nutrition, Sleep and Vitals.
Samsung highlighted features such as Vitals, Heart Health Score, Fitness Index and Daily Cardio Load, while including cautions that several health tools are intended for wellness and fitness rather than diagnosis or treatment. The launch underscores Samsung’s continued push to make smartwatches central to consumer health tracking, while differentiating between performance-focused and general-use models.
