9to5Google reports that Samsung’s rumored Galaxy S27 Ultra could receive a notably larger battery after several generations of little change in capacity. Citing a GalaxyClub report, 9to5Google says a new battery cell with a rated capacity of 5,534 mAh has been linked to the S27 Ultra, which could translate into a marketed “typical” capacity in the roughly 5,700 mAh to 5,800 mAh range.

The article frames the change as a long-awaited upgrade for Samsung’s highest-end Galaxy S model. According to 9to5Google, Samsung has kept the Ultra line at about 5,000 mAh from the Galaxy S20 Ultra through the current Galaxy S26 Ultra. The outlet notes that the S26 Ultra’s rated battery capacity was around 4,850 mAh, making the reported S27 Ultra figure a meaningful increase if it reaches a shipping device.

9to5Google also says silicon-carbon battery technology may be part of Samsung’s plans, after reportedly appearing in the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series. The same GalaxyClub report is said to list a rated 5,087 mAh battery for a new Galaxy S27 Pro model, likely marketed around 5,200 mAh to 5,300 mAh. The article says there is not yet information on battery capacities for the base Galaxy S27 or S27+.

The report remains unconfirmed, and Samsung has not announced the Galaxy S27 series. If accurate, the battery change would matter because battery life remains a key differentiator in premium smartphones, especially as flagship devices add brighter displays, faster processors and more demanding AI and camera features.
