What the report says

The Independent Uganda reports that Entebbe Club will host the Grand Finale of the 10th edition of the Stanbic Bank Match Play on Saturday, with the par-71 Lakeside course set for an 18-hole title contest. The final features first-time finalists Sam Kacungira and Vincent Katutsi against Richard Mwami and Tony Kisadha, who were runners-up in the 2024 edition.

According to the report by Phillip Corry, Kacungira and Katutsi reached the final by defeating Ronald Pulle and Michael Monne 5 and 4. Mwami and Kisadha advanced after a tighter semifinal against Brian Manyindo and Mark Musinguzi, winning on the second extra hole. Kacungira told the publication that the Entebbe course demands accuracy and plays long, while also acknowledging the role of sponsors in supporting the event.

The winners are due to receive a fully paid Uganda Airlines trip to watch the DP Tour Abu Dhabi Championship, which the report lists for Nov. 5-8 in the UAE. The finale is also expected to attract a large subsidiary field, with additional side competitions planned around the main match.

The Match Play Challenge is backed by Stanbic Bank Uganda, with Johnnie Walker, Cfao Motors, Uganda Airlines and AfriSafe Risk Consultants named as co-sponsors. The Independent also listed previous winners, including Lillian Koowe and Joyce Kisembo in 2024 and Charles Kabunga and Steven Kitamirike in 2025, placing this year’s final in the continuing history of one of Entebbe Club’s established golf competitions.
