FUFA to Receive Shs3bn Annually as CAF Increases Funding by 33%

What the report says
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations, led by Moses Magogo, is set to receive up to Shs2.89 billion a year from the Confederation of African Football under a revised support scheme. Nile Post reports that CAF has raised annual funding for its 54 member associations by 33%, increasing each association’s allocation from $525,000 to $700,000.
CAF president Patrice Motsepe announced the change on Wednesday, according to the report. The new level is part of a wider financial package that also lifts support for CAF zonal unions and the African Clubs Association. Nile Post said the purpose of the increase is to help football bodies become more competitive, better managed and more financially sustainable.
For FUFA, the extra funding is expected to support football development, strengthen governance and expand investment in youth and women’s football. The article says CAF also wants the money to improve opportunities for players, coaches, referees and other stakeholders across the game.
The report places the change in a longer trend of rising CAF support since 2021, when member associations received $200,000 annually before later increases to $400,000 and then $525,000. It is a significant boost for Uganda’s football administration at a time when African federations are being encouraged to build more sustainable programmes and stronger structures.
