Fox News Mocks Celebs Who Celebrated ‘Socialist Mayor’ Mamdani and Now Appear on His ‘Searchable Hit List’ of Homeowners

Mediaite reported that Fox News hosts and contributors criticized New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani over a public database identifying owners of pied-à-terres, including celebrities who had supported him politically. The segment, discussed on Fox News’ “Outnumbered,” focused on figures such as Anna Wintour and Cynthia Nixon, whose names and addresses Mediaite said appeared in the database of unoccupied second homes valued at $1 million or more.

According to Mediaite, the database is connected to a newly enacted pied-à-terre tax applying to qualifying unoccupied homes in the five boroughs. Fox personalities framed the publication of the list as a privacy and safety concern rather than simple transparency. Co-host Emily Compagno argued that some people affected may not fit a wealthy absentee-owner stereotype, while Kennedy and contributor Lisa Boothe used sharply critical language to describe the list and questioned the revenue impact relative to the city budget.

Mediaite also noted that criticism has not come only from conservative media, citing former Democratic strategist Dan Turrentine’s negative reaction on “The DC Huddle” podcast. The article said Boothe referred to an estimated $500 million in revenue from the tax and compared it with a $126 billion city budget.

The dispute matters because it combines several politically sensitive issues in New York: housing affordability, taxation of second homes, public disclosure of property ownership and personal security. Mediaite added that Mamdani’s prior financial disclosures showed he owned vacant land in Uganda valued between $100,000 and $250,000, a detail Fox hosts invoked while criticizing his policy posture.
